My first impression was shock, but as I read Vito's email yesterday I fully understand the progression here. As the chapter chairman for Midway USA chapter in Wichita, Roy was a huge help in directing our chapters development and progress. Roy has become a close friend and always asks me how my wife is. I think he kinda likes her, but who knows why. Just kidding Roy and Karin. Best wishes in you new, or should I say now dedicated position.

Let's not forget the change here, though. Dave, welcome to the new task. You have some pretty big shoes to fill, but with Roy recommending you, aside from wondering what you might have done to him in the past =), he must have confidence you can fill them. Good luck in the new job, and lets hope we all support you as we did Roy as the national director.

Roy, we all salute you as a strong leader of the NCRS Judging Teams! We are also proud of the work you have done for the NCRS and the time you have taken to further the goals of the organization.
From time to time I have judged with you and have been judged by you. You have always been fair to both the NCRS rules and regulations and have put the owner and the owners Corvette first.
Thanks for your long service and I look forward to the next meet and seeing you again.

After the initial gasp, I have been a couple of days trying to get my thoughts down. Like others I can attest to the support that Roy has given. As chapter judging chair through several regionals and a national convention, he always had my back. And as Joe has said he was always fair in administering the rules. Roy and Dennis Clark have made our organization's judging program the hallmark of Corvette evaluation. I look forward to working with Dave as he fills these enormous shoes.

Oh, man! Roy's the only Judging Chairman I've ever known of. It's almost like when Pope Paul VI died or FDR was no longer president...
Seriously, Roy's done a great job. One of my favorite NCRS memories is presenting awards with him, at the IN Chapter's 2006 regional.

Roy, thanks for being the "keeper of the standard" all these years and for handling all the tough situations where the owners may not have been happy, but they knew they'd been treated fairly and with dignity. On a personal note, thanks for the mentoring as I worked my way along - I'm proud to say, "Sure I know Roy - he's a great guy!".

roy: its been a long delightful run, some tough times but way more enjoyable ones. will never forget you and roy-man in atlantic iowa. when the dipstick choose you to succeed him, i knew u could handle it but didn't think anyone could fill dennis's shoes. you did and for a longer run than any previous national judging chairmen.
dave: looking foreword to your run as national chief judge and from what i've seen in the past, know you can handle the stresses that sometime rear their ugly heads. let me know if there is anything i can do to help with the transition. regards to the pair of you. mike

Thanks for all the guidance and advise over the years. Also thanks for all you have done for NCRS and for all you will do in the future for our organization. Like those who came before you, “a job well done”.

Dave,
Working with you at chapter, regional and national events have been challenging for us both but very satisfying. I also want to thank you for all the help and advise you have given me over the years. Good luck with your new position. I know that both of us can depend on each other in the future.

I look forward to continuing my friendship with both you guys and am pleased you both will be there in the future if needed.
