How to keep bugs off the vehicle in the Summer w/o harming the paint.

Even on very short runs(Car Shows) in the Summer I collect some bugs on the
front part (Verticle) of the car. Sometimes they can be a b--ch to
get clean. Is there anything on the market that can be used on a
temporary bases to solve the problem? I thought I heard once that
someone had good luck using "Saran Wrap" just to get to the destination
then pull it off; then do the samething on the way home. I posted this on
another board and idea came up using "blue painters tape". Any thoughts
or ideas?? Thanks Larry P.S. Please do not bring up the idea of
    "Car Bra's".

I just do an immediate wash job of the front end and usually the windshield. Any good car soap will do and a hand mit. We have "Love Bugs" here in Florida now so we tend to just stay home and do projects. After all, we can drive year around so whats a few days or a week.

I have found that a good coat of wax on the front end is an easy remedy. Then when I get home I use some warm water on a wash rag.

Wax it well, and I use Meguiar's Quik Detailer with a microfiber towel on a regular basis. My Dad uses one every time he takes out the car.
I don't think his 2002 has ever been "washed," just wiped down after each drive.

I have the 3M clear paint protector on my 2011 and I follow the same procedure as Patrick does, using Meguiar Quick Detailer.

With a good coat of wax, the bugs come right off.

For the windshield, use Rain-X. This is also great in the rain. Bugs wash off easily. I apply some before each road trip.

On my 2008 I use Plexus plastic cleaner for the 3M Clearguard. Great stuff.

I use Rejecx on the B/C surfaces, the ones without the clear plastic. I also use Rejecx on the windshield. Rejecx works much better than Rainx. For the clear plastic I too use Plexus -- that is what the installer recommended.

BTW: after 500 miles today the nose is full of bugs. I hope there are car wash facilities in Marlborough for those of us who drive 'em.

I have/use this on my soft top's rear window. I never thought to try it on the 3M that's across the front fascia of my G/sport. PLEXUS is THE BEST.

As for bugs, I use lots of brand name spray shine products on my '72. Never any trouble getting bugs off. BTW, I've had this car for 8 years now - I've never washed it with bucket and/or hose - only wet chamois and frequent spray shine.

Bug Barricade as I have always had luck with the G/G products. Thanks Again-Larry

I agree with Terry. I use Rejex on my wheels windshield and areas not otherwise covered. Rejex prevents the bug guts from sticking and they just wash off with a damp towel. It also makes the brake dust wash off the wheels easily. Bob

That's what I do with my 67, here in Texas (although I use One Grand Carnuba and Zaino detailing spray).

Except for the wheels (which I do wash with soap and water using a watering can), I have only wet washed mine once in the 3 years I've owned it--the day it came off the transport truck from Boston. A good coat of wax, detailing spray and clean/quality microfiber towels before every drive, and it should stay clean as a whistle.

I've also got a 2006 Porsche (PCA Club Coupe 2 of 50--Porsche kept #1) that's only been driven in the rain 4 times. I can still count on my hands the number of times it's been washed, thanks to keeping it clean in this manner.

And at least Bob knows how to spell it.

I am not sure I would use it on lacquer, but for BC/CC it is the bomb.

Now I have to go to wash 1K miles of bugs and dirt off the car.
