Headlight door "light" indicator never worked so during restoration we checked and changed bulbs everywhere. Now when the light pods are closed completely and lights on, the indicator is OFF. As the pods roll open "light" comes on and stays on while lights are on. That is opposite of what owners manual says??? We did nothing to the lights but did have the dash out. What do we have backwards?

Re: C2 "light: indicator 1965 Conv
Steve,
Something is backwards. It sounds like the two headlight indicator switches are not adjusted correctly. The "Y" yoke screw should be triggering the switch plunger. Sounds like this is not happening or the switch or possibly both switches is bad. Check out only switches (isolate them by unplugging blue vinyl terminated wired) separately with a meter for making and breaking contact with light doors closed and open. Did you replace the head light switch? Repro? New dash harness? The AIM has a wiring diagram with details on connections at the head light switch. I suggest you look there first. Make sure wire colors are terminated per AIM diagram.- Top

Re: C2 "light: indicator 1965 Conv
Steve, is it possible that the Y-yokes for left and right are installed on the wrong sides, or reversed, maybe Gene can comment.(wild guess)New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: C2 "light: indicator 1965 Conv
It is possible to put the yokes on backwards, but the buckets would not rotate much. The yokes on both sides are common part, no RH & LH. Problem has to be electrical if switches check out and screw head is contacting plunger.- Top

Re: C2 "light: indicator 1965 Conv
Thanks for the help. I pulled the light switch out. Harness looks to be original. Harness shows heat signs at post #3 yet no wire there??? The 3 -5 post have copper jumper on switch. Checking diagram and working my way forward. Something fishy as all interior light socets were empty when we started on car. They worked fine with old switch but not the new repop, ie new problem. "Light" indicator still backwards. Spend the day on it.- Top

Re: C2 "light: indicator 1965 Conv
I had the exact same problem on a '63. Dash indicator worked reversed of the intended design. Warning light would only be powered when the buckets were in the full up position with headlights on.
Much electric troubleshooting with no problems found......then I referenced the photo in the service manual and saw the switches were not in the same physical position as on the car. When properly mounted, the switches angle (upwards) and towards the front of the nose(ref 2nd pic below). Mine were angled (downwards) and towards the rear of the car.
The inner pivot support housings(1st pic) for the buckets were reversed. Whoever reinstalled them before I got the car had swapped the left and right housings. When this is done, it repositions the switch and the stop mechanisms, completely reversing the operation of the telltale dash light limit switches.
The housings are marked L & R, but IIRC you cannot see them when installed.- Top

Re: C2 "light: indicator 1965 Conv
Thanks Richard, will check that. Car assembled so this is going to be exciting. Also missing the DG16 wire from post 3 of the light switch to the fuse box. Wonder what that does?- Top

Re: C2 "light: indicator 1965 Conv
DG16 is the feed to the fuse for the dash indicator lights, powered when park or headlights are on. After the fuse the wires are gray.- Top
