Do I gap this 68 door gap?

I thought I would toss this out there for some opinions. From what I understand this is fairly typical 68 production quality. If so, would you make the gap consistent?

I've seen this gap quality on numerous shark cars....not just '68's. I've owned 2 sharks both had inconsistant gaps. I left mine alone, that's the way they were built.

My 68 has this gap on both sides. After I realized this was a relatively common original flaw, it was a relief. I left mine alone.

Was the front upper surround panel replaced.

Patrick. Here's a good shot of mine to reference. I see yours is an earlier car as well.

does not appear to be - but some work was done to the lower portion of the nose - frame also needed aligned so some banging occurred in the life of this car.

Thanks Jack- one thing I notice on your car is how the painted window trim piece tip is almost perfectly lined up with the corner tip on the fiber glass. My pic has the two off by a good 1/4" or so.

                Ralph:

We had the entire car down to bare fiberglass for a re-paint. There was no evidence of the top surround having been replaced, but you make a good point.

Just for comparison to Jack's car; here is my "late" 68. Note the difference in the fender caps and set-back mirror. LarryBloomington Gold 2006 - 1968 Corvette 003.jpg
