FWIW, I've been looking through the Corvette Black Book today and find what I think is some interesting information. To me, it shows just how much our tastes change over time.

It's been stated here more than once that RED is a perennial favorite in Corvettes. According to the Black Book, I find that the most chosen exterior colors (qtys for interiors not available) for Bumper Year cars was NEVER red.

The most chosen are as follows:

1968:
British Green - 16.7%
LeMans Blue - 16.5%
Rally Red - 10.2%
Rally Red was 6th most ordered out of 10 choices

1969: NA

1970: NA

1971:
War Bonnet Yellow - 17.0%
Brands Hatch Green - 15.8%
Mille Miglia Red - 10.0%
Mille Miglia Red was 5th most ordered out of 10 choices

1972:
Ontario Orange - 18.1%
Elkhart Green - 15.5%
Mille Miglia Red - 9.2%
Mille Miglia Red was 6th most ordered out of 10 choices

1968 - Black with black interior and redlines
1969 - Black with black or saddle interior and redlines (oh yea, gotta have side pipes)
1970/71 - Mulsanne Blue with black or bright blue interior
1972 - Not sure. I'm thinking Pewter with a black interior

I submit my 1970 with 43 years of ownership soon on August 18, 2013. Donnybrooke Green with black leather interior.

Another vote for LeMans Blue with any color interior. I am very biased but it does look great.
