    Re: Opinions on 4-post Lifts

Jury's back. Benpak four posts are made in China in my book it takes them off the list. I know everybody says were in world economy, but the work environment in the US is not the best. Buying something made in a foreign land takes a job away from a fellow American when they need the most, might cost little more, but we can't afford not to buy Made In America.

        Re: Opinions on 4-post Lifts

Wayne while they are built in Canada none of their 4 post lifts are certified. They might be a good product but if they are not certified then they are not inspected or have the extra safety requirements of the ALI = Automotive lift Institute.
All certified lifts of any style are listed on the ALI web-site. WWW.autolift.org. By manufacturer

...I've had my BackYard Buddy since about '98 and it's been perfect. Got it for about $3600 then, loaded it up on my car trailer right at the factory in either Warren or Niles, Ohio.

Wes and Wayne. The ALI is very up to date with all their listings on certified lifts I checked with them this AM. I am a member. The TLS lift company is a member but according to their web-site the 4 post lifts are not certified. We do not see a lot of TLS lifts in the New York area. It may be a very good lift but again my point is they are not certified therefore not tested and may not have the extra safety features required for certification.
As for Back Yard Buddy lifts ,they are a excellent lift ,American made in Warren Ohio but they are the most expensive lifts on the market. I have installed at least 100 BYB lifts and they have all of the safety features. However BYB also is not certified.

                  Re: Opinions on 4-post Lifts

I have the 4-post BendPak HD-9. I've had it for several years. Like Michael, I've been very happy with it. I questioned the air lock system at first and wondered how well it would hold up over time. This safety feature has proven to be flawless and a tremedous piece of mind. This also happens to be the same lift that Jay Leno has in his "garage". I doubt he'd be putting his cars on these lifts if he had any question regarding there quality. http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/bend-pak/181969/

In regard to sevice, they've been fantastic. In fact, they are coming out to my home today to discuss trading in my lift for the BendPak HD-9SWX. This is the 4-post super wide lift. I'll be able to park two cars on top and two below. This is part of the master plan to add another C-2 : )

I've had great communication with the company. I've spoken to their VP, Jeff, on several occasions and he's proven to be responsive, professional and extremely knowledgeable. It's impressive that they have taken the amount of time they have in dealing with me when the major part of their business seems to be industrial. They truly do take tremendous pride in their product. Their going to be around for a long time. A big kudos to these guys.

In short, if your looking for a lift, do your research. Ask lots of question and then research some more. When you finally decide which one you like, try and see if you can actually see one in person and see how it works. You don't want end up with an inferior lift.

Finally, I've been very happy with my decision to go with BendPak. They manufacture quality lifts. In regard to service, they've been fantastic. But with all things in life, your mileage may vary. Good luck

                  Hector
