    Opinions on 4-post Lifts

I'm looking specifically at either a BendPak or Rotary Revolution 4-post lift and would like feedback on either of these two brands. Also, BendPak offers a narrow version of their lift which will fit both my 67 Coupe and 68 Camaro, but would like some feeeback on others that have 4-post lifts. Will I regret using the narrow version?

    Kenny,

I hear BendPak makes a good lift but their customer service is not so hot. I would recommend getting a lift that is ALI certified. I'm looking at Quality lifts. I would recommend contacting Mark Tulley here on this board. He is in the lift business and has been very helpful to me.

I too recommend contacting Mark Tulley.

At Bowling Green last week we used a lift of the brand he sells -- assembled in Louisville. One of the best, if not the best, we have used at the meets -- and I have used a bunch over the years. I think it costs a little more than the others, but the quality impressed me and I can assure you Mark's service (or whoever he recommends you to if you don't live in the North East) will be beyond reproach. I am told we will have three of this brand at the National this Summer in Hampton, if you want to check them out.

Sorry can't tell you about the narrow ones. I am pretty sure we don't use those at the NCRS meets.

Ok, so which do you recommend? BendPak or Rotary? I want a 2 post for work not storage; what do you recommend for a 2 post lift.

          Kenny,
I have the Bend Pak narrow 4 post and use it a lot with zero problems. However, if you have a C5 or newer it just barely fits past the brackets onto the ramps; about 1" on each side. Silverado is the same, real tight fit. They also make an adjustable width ramp version.

I have had the Rotary Revolution for 5 years and it has worked great. I use it for both work as well as storage of a C3 and a full size car and it does both with no issues. I have the 110 volt motor and it is plenty fast for my hobby use, it was easy to set up and level although it takes a few people. There were two of us when I put mine together and I used my engine hoist on the two runners. I bought the piece that slides between the runners and between that and the runners a bottle jack lifts the car fine to do brake work or rebuild the suspension. I know mine was US made not sure if they still are.

Joe and Terry thanks. Kenny I have installed about 50 of the Quality Lift Q4PO7 which is only 100 inches wide outside demension. the narrow lifts work fine
However the drive through is 92 in wide which is 7 ft 6 in. all normal cars and light trucks will have more than enough room . The Quality Lifts are ALI certified and inspected by a independent testing lab. The pricing is very competitive to Bend Pac and lower than Revolution. I have been in the lift business for over 30 years and have sold and installed most brands of lifts. I have had many service issues with Bend Pac, missing parts etc and I have found their service dept hard to deal with.
Whatever lift you decide on make sure it is ALI certified.
George as far as 2 post lifts the same thing applies. If you only want a 100% american made lift , your choices are limited to the brands I emailed you.

                  Re: Opinions on 4-post Lifts

I did not know Quality made a narrow 4 post lift. What is the outside width of that one?

One issue I see for working under the car is the runners, or whatever they are called, are quite wide and thus obscure access to more of the underside of the car than other lifts I've looked at. Also someone commented that the smooth runners might be a traction issue compared to those with a diamond plate surface.

I have the Quality Lift Q4P09H (106" outside width) and I’m very happy with it. Bought it in 2010 after seeing them on display at the Napa tent during Hot August Nights (a local Reno car event). The main selling point for me was that they were offering a delivery and installation package. I use it quite a bit and have had no problems.

Any reason not to go with the 7000 pound lift if all it will ever hold is Corvettes? I know that for some reason it is not certified. Any other difference worth noting?

I purchased a Quality lift from Mark 1.5 years ago. Excellent lift and great to deal with Mark and his company. I highly recommend!!
