67' lifting body off; how many men

I have the body mounting bolts removed, door jams reinforced, and car dolly made. How many guys do I need to pull the body off the chassis? Also how hard or easy is it going to release from the chassis? Any other suggestions would be helpful.
    Thx
    Dave

At least 8 and a spotter, and refreshments!

Only after the body is off and sitting on the body dolly.

Wish I was closer, I loved doing that to mine, and it's kind of like opening a time capsule. When you first pull it off it almost seems like you now have two cars.

        Gary -

Yup, 8 or 9 and a spotter works fine (this one is going back on, not coming off, but you get the picture).

Here's a video that goes along with that image from the Michigan Chapter's website.

Thx for the video Mike. When you pull the body off is it stuck pretty hard to the frame or does it lift off fairly easily?

I comes off fairly easy if you unhook ALL the ground straps. Don't ask me how I know. LOL

I have lifted them with 8 guys and two pushers , used a chain hoist with two men ,used a body lifting jig and a cherry picker by myself , and the best way is two camper jacks and one man .
Also the more light weight trim you can put on before the drop ,tail lamps, licence lamps, emblems in the rear . all wires ,regulators ,wiper motor, latches etc .will save you time and trouble later .

                    Bill,

Could you elaborate on the camper jacks method and why it's better?

                    Thanks,
                    Joe

Joe , camper jacks are tall jacks that use a hand crank ratchet . They have about a two foot lifting bar that fits under the rocker / birdcage . The body can be lifted a few cranks at a time on each side with one person or much faster with two people . the frame can then be rolled out and the body dolly can be rolled under .I have used them on 63 to 75s with no trouble . I dont think they could be used on solid axles . mine came from a camper store for$50.00 years ago.

Two, yourself and a buddy with the body hung on a 2 ton cherry picker. Easy as pie. One works the picker hydraulics and the other watching body. Once rear 1/4's clear the rear body mounts and mufflers its straight up and it's off.

Our Michigan chapter used camper jacks to drop the body back on a '61 about eight years ago - went very well.
