Had this blueprint sent to me in an email and wondering how we can state 1963/4 Corvettes should be using "326" pump, when this ORIGINAL DRAWING for the "326" is dated 5-18-65, as indicated in the "cropped" first picture

Pics show up fine for me. We've run this one into the ground for years, but nobody in charge of the '63-'64 JG wants to accept the fact that the 326 pump didn't exist until 1965; they've carried that myth forward AGAIN, into the new 6th Edition.- Top

Re: Question on 326 Pump - Blueprint
John,
Thank you! Guess I have had my head in the sand and missed all the previous discussions. So, when I received the email, I just had to post and see what people had to say. Guess everyone believes the myth and we continue to have the wrong water pumps attributed to the 1963/4's!Rick Aleshire

Re: Question on 326 Pump - Blueprint
Not to bust anybody's bubble but this (from what I can see, bad photo) looks to be a machining drawing not a casting drawing. A casting drawing would have more dimensions describing the casting walls, draft, casting wall thickness and outline.
Back in the day the practice was to have a raw casting drawing and another drawing taking that casting and defining the machining dimensions.
This could also just be an inspection drawing.- Top

Re: Question on 326 Pump - Blueprint
A lot of people use the 609 pump for 63/4. I understand the drawing and the date of the drawing but I do believe there are some original examples out there with 326 pumps. One other thing to add to the discussion, the guys who rebuild a bunch of these pumps have an opinion similar to what the judging guide states. Do we have any surveys of original cars and the pump casting numbers??- Top
