Re: Suitable replacment transmission mount for Muncie 4-speed....is one out there?

    1963-1970 Corvette M.T. mount research:

    1963 AIM, GM # 3781950
    1964-1967 AIM's: GM # 3792133
1968 AIM: GM # 1371315 (no record of this number in my vintage Chev. parts catalogs, it just disappeared into thin air)
    1969-1970 AIM's: GM # 3913498

Chev. & GM Parts History for over the counter parts:
    3781950 to 3870182 in Dec. 1965
    3792133 to 3913498 in July 1974
3913498 to 3928392 in May 1969 then back to 3913498 in May 1972

GM # 3928392 is listed in my Oct. 1968 Chevrolet Parts Catalog and my Oct. 1969 Corvette Parts Catalog for the 1968 & 1969 Corvette. GM $ 3928392 is also listed in my 1970 Camaro AIM.

Enclosed are two photos of a replacement transmission mount (Sealed Power # 270-2378) that I bought for my 1970 Camaro SS350 long term project (still under restoration since 1990) back in the 1990's at a swap meet. The mount has "ACM 236326" molded into the rubber and "ACM MADE IN U.S.A." stamped into the metal on the other side. I assume the mount was made by the Anchor company ("ACM"). The threaded holes are spaced 1 1/2" center to center. The holes on the other side measure 3 3/4" center to center. The thickness of the mount measures 1 3/4".
I spray painted the metal part with primer paint years ago to prevent rust.

    Dave

Joe and Michael: I've had 3 different transmissions in my 70 LT-1 (I preserved my original 20K mile M-21 before I took the car drag racing) but it still has the original mount. Stimulated by this discussion I bought one of the Anchor mounts just to look at it. It was in a Anchor box with a Doan sticker and it was made in Korea not China. The mount itself is marked ANCHOR-KOREA 2378. It looks like a pretty good piece and it was unbelievablely cheap at $3.76 from Rockauto. Since South Korea has a respectable auto industry these days and this part looks so good, I would not hesitate to use it (unlike my opinion of Chinese bearings).

Now.....were getting somewhere Pat. Thanks for that info. O'Rielly's Auto sells the anchor branded mounts and show to have the 2378 available. Good pic of it as well.

Most of the modern-day mounts I've seen, motor side and transmission, have been made in Korea, not China.
