    Suitable replacment transmission mount for Muncie 4-speed....is one out there?

    Anyone know of a suitable replacement transmission mount for my Muncie 4-speed. Trying to avoid the overseas brands. Believe the Anchor branded mount is now imported. Any one have a new old stock replacement like TRW or Borg Warner? Anyone?

        Hi Michael,
        Joe's teaser #3913498 was used in Olds, Buicks, Chevy Pass cars & trucks, Chevelles, Nova's, Camaros as well as Corvettes. I would think a good used one could be found with a trip to a local wrecking yard. I personally would rather find a good used one than a mount made in China

          Joe is not a tease. He is a teacher. He wants you to see what a real one looks like. LOL

            I have two real ones (originals) on my bench Paul. One with part # still very visable but old. The other original, clasped into itself. I will use older usable unit but 'looking at my options'. I know numerous companies made NOSR that were made in the USA......that or a viable used original unit. Someone has one........Thanks.

            Thanks to you Page, I have been searching other model lines as well. :->

              It's not a "tease", at all. Herewith the reasons for the picture:

              1) To show you what an original mount looks like NEW, not in some sort of deteriorated condition;

              2) To confirm (via the parts tag) that what's in the picture is a real GM mount, not just one that I think is a real mount;

              3) MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL:

              My responses on this board are not intended to be for the exclusive benefit of the member who posted the original question. They are meant to be instructional and for the benefit of all members who use this board now and in the future through the archives. That's one of the major purposes of a discussion board like this and certainly one of the primary reasons I spend as much time on this board as I do. You may know what an original GM mount looks like but there may be a lot of others who visit here who don't. So, your question presents an opportunity to provide information and photos that, while perhaps not of benefit to you, are of benefit to others. After all, I'm able to post the pictures now; after I'm dead I won't be able to.

                      I took it as funny too but I would imagine if Joe L. didn't clearly say the part was NOT for sale he could get bombarded with PM's asking if he wanted to sell the part. This could get really old quickly and become a sore point. This could go on for years as folks go through the archives.

                      I'm a visual person and having a photo of the correct part is priceless to me rather than just having a verbal description or drawing of the part, so thanks Joe for posting the image.

                        Yes, as they say "a picture is worth a thousand words". I say a picture is worth more like a MILLION words.

                        The reason that I suffix such posts with [not for sale] is exactly as you surmise (and I still get e-mails from folks wanting to buy parts). A secondary reason is that I don't want folks to get the idea that my mentioning that I have a part (and can thus provide an accurate description) and/or posting a photo of said part is a "veiled" offer to sell the part (and "get around" the board's prohibition of "for sale" ads) .

                        Allegations of my posting photos of parts or mentioning that I have certain parts for the purpose of a "tease" have come up previously. That is why I am quite sensitive to it even if it's mentioned in jest. Lacking the subtlety that verbal communication provides, I find it sometimes difficult to discern the intent of written posts. Of course, I could eliminate any misunderstandings of my intent by simply not mentioning that I have a part and/or posting a photo. So far, I have not taken that course, though.

                          Joe have you had to replace a mount in your one owner 1969?

                            Oh yes. I have never actually broken one but I've replaced them as a matter of routine. The car is on its third (maybe fourth) now.

                              Could we refocus on topic at hand. Looking for a suitable replacement transmission mount? Thanks.
