Gary, I restored my frames last year and as I recall they do not come off. They are welded together.

What are you looking to accomplish?

the track that slides in the tube moves up and down about 1/2" making the seat loose. I think something came off the track that makes it tight in the tube.

Gary. I do not believe that it will dissay. there are some ball bearings internally that the tubes slide on. did the ball bearings maybe fall out?

I don't know what's inside of the tube. The back part of the piece that slides in the tube works great. it's the front that's loose. I'm trying to get the sliding piece out to see what's in there, so I can fix it.

Gary, On the back of the seat frame there is a small metal strap welded to keep the slider in place. You will need to cut the welds on this and remove it. Once you have repaired the slider you can re-weld the small strap in place. Joe

Joe, I did remove the strap, I can only get it to slide about 2" back. The front part of the slider is hitting the latch that locks the slider in.

Gary, You will also need to get that latch out of the way. Either by removing or bending it enough.Joe

Thanks Joe, do you know what holds the 2 rollers to the slide. The front one keeps coming off when I slide the track back and forward. Maybe sitting in the seat would put pressure on the roller and keep it there? Thanks.
