Help with 327 engine suffix code SH

I've tried and tried to find this Tonawanda engine suffix code SH without success...Engine was in 62 vette when purchased in 70's

casting 3782870 ( small letters ) .....cast date K6 62 ( two digit year )

Just curious before i get rid of it.

My book of engine info (Lime Book by Ed McComas) does not list any SH suffix for any GM engines both Tonawanda or Flint.

Bruce....Exactly what i found...I did find same question about the SH code on one of the chevy forums with no answer there either.

You can see that the pad includes a rebuild stamp by someone....RC440

It's probably a marine or industrial/agricultural application.

It appears to have a Kansas City VIN number on it. Typically 327-300 and 340 pass car engines got this kind of VIN marking in 62.

My 1963 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1962) does not list a "SH" code. Note that the code on 327 engines with a M.T. always start with the letter "R" and 327 engines with P.G. always start with the letter "S". The "SG" code is for a 1963 Passenger car 327 w/P.G., H.P, and A.C. Logically a 1963 Passenger car with a "SH" code would have even more options.

Did marine or industrial/agricultural applications use Powerglide transmissions?

My 1963 Chevrolet Truck Parts Catalog (Oct. 1962) for 1.5, 2, and 2.5 ton 1963 trucks lists the following codes for 327 engines: ""U", "UA", "UB", "UE", and "UF".

Since the block was made in Tonowanda it would be installed in a Corvette. Note that there is no code for a 1963 Corvette w/P.G. and A.C. I believe that the A.C. option was only available on "late" 1963 Corvettes.

My 1964 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1963) has the same list of codes for 1963 models.

KC donor car for this engine makes sense since the 62 was delivered to mid-state Missouri ( NCRS Delivery data)and top side of engine was stock vette components ( heads , intake and dist. )....Thanks to all for help
