'62 340hp oil capacity

Just bought a '62 340hp car. Owner's manual says total oil capacity for this engine (and all '62 327's ) is 6 quarts when changing filter. Is this correct?

Correct. But if uncertain as to correct oil pan, dipstick etc, you can put in 5 qts with new filter and run engine for short period and check to see if 1 qt low.

Agree with Larry, but if someone put the wrong tube and dipstick on the motor, you still might not get an accurate reading. Been there done that with a 62 Bubba put together.
