Actually Warchawski & J C Whitney were housed in the same building, and operated with the same personnel in spite of their marginally different addresses. This became clear on a visit to their (old) location -- long gone now. I can't recall which survived, but it is now in Oregon, Illinois just off of I 80.

La Salle is right. I should have looked at a map. Thanks for the geography lesson. I recently traveled I39 on the way back from Florida, and that was still stuck in my mind.

              To drag this farther OT.
Yes we stayed one day extra, and left on Monday morning at o'dark thirty. (We have used that term long before there was a movie title using it.) We timed our return travel, as we did our arrival travel, based upon the weather. We cleared Atlanta mid-day Monday. The temperature was in the low 50s there when we went through. Y'all saw what happened in Atlanta on Tuesday. The forecast in Kississimee was for rain Tuesday through Thursday. There was snow and blowing snow forming ice on the roads Monday at our destination, so we saw a weather window and took it. The -6 at our destination on Tuesday evening was a bit of a shock; but now almost a week later I have acclimatized and put my shorts and T-shirts away.

My recollection is that Oregon, IL is on the Rock River and the original home of John Deere and John Deere manufacturing.

Joe: You are very close; John Deere originated in a little town called "Grand Detour" IL; just down the road from Oregon, IL. BTW if you
recall my thread in the Summer about the AACA Grand National in Moline Il. (Now home office of John Deere) the show was held downtown
Moline with the "John Deere Museum" is featured. Could not ask for a nicer place; right next to the "Mighty Mississippi"! Larry

If points are your concern, the issues during judging (with the repops) is the braiding and the spark plug end boots. The repops are only 2" long where originals are closer to 2 1/2". The braiding is, what I would describe as, too tight. ....
