    Re: Documentation

Ken, take another look at the previous comments concerning window stickers and you'll see that references WERE made about "new" appearing window stickers, and not just "aged" stickers being fraudulent. My window sticker looks brand new, and I don't think anyone would think that it's original based on it's "new" condition. And again, there's no "fraud" (as stated above) when there's no financial gain involved. (Fraud defined: deceit, trickery, sharp practice, or breach of confidence, perpetrated for profit or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage)

    Thanks

I disagree, the aged look adds to the illusions of history that are important to get people's interest in car shows, displays, etc. Now that I am done with all the Top Flight wars, I take my '67 to about 10 events per year compared to maybe 1 for NCRS, so I am more interested in interesting a larger, younger demographic than NCRS reaches. And you don't have to pay big money for the aged look, easy to do yourself if you look at all those Duntov and BowTie type cars' window stickers, easy to duplicate the look with a new one too. I also do these for my Shelby, T-Bird, 'Cuda, etc., never had anyone complain of FRAUD.

Of course the National Corvette Museum offers build sheets and Window Stickers for any Corvette built since 1981. I ordered a set for my 2004 Z06 Lemans (Z16) that I would display at events and I guess they could pass for originals.

Though they may not be the actual documents that came with the car, they are copies nonetheless. Can't see how having reproduction documents like the NCM paperwork would be a problem though since they are accurate for that specific car by VIN.

I think everyone would consider those documents authentic and real, they are from the actual data source - not something created based on your opinion, research or desire that could be totally inaccurate and misleading.

Owner history is a valuable thing, too. If the same paperwork is known to have been with a car for many years, this helps.

              Re: Fake Documentation

when I look at any mid-year I ALWAYS take the approach it is fake. I have strong reasons for doing this. I have owned two 67's in my life time. One way before "faking" became a "fad" and one since. The first one left my ownership as a small block. It now resides on the west coast as a BB 435 with documentation and a lot less miles then I know it had. So enough said there. The second car was a true documented small block. The current owner is restoring it back to a small block. I praise him for that. The other guy on the west coast = Oh well sorry.

                Re: Documentation

The doc's will never appear in this generation, there are too many high dollar heads at risk due to all the faked cars done up especially 25 - 35 years ago. High dollar GM heads will get on here and say they don't exist too, all because there was too much going on that big money needs to keep quiet.

We have all seen the million dollar adverts to get the doc's, some think its so we get them, there's always another side to this, open up those eyes.

435's have an especially great survival rate, didn't you know most had special genetics such that that 327 that they were shipped with grew 100 cubes and a lot more horse power once the car reached the magical age of ten?

Lacking significant verified supporting data, the odds will always be 50 50 no matter displacement.
