I'm almost more suspicious of cars that have all this paperwork. All these years paperwork was unavailable on most cars. Now that it influences prices it's all over the place.

Re: Documentation
NCRS Historic Document Services helps expose these fakey, fakey documents. Trim tags, ask anyone that has bought one and brought it to a Regional or National judging event. Not only are the tags called, but the vehicle is marked in the database as having a bogus tag. Does nothing for the provenance when you try to sell the car.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: Documentation
There is NO reason a honest person would buy these or use them. New repo window sticker ETC for display is fine but there is NO reason to buy a fake aged one. OUT & OUT FRAUD. SAD65 350 TI CONV 67 J56 435 CONV,67,390/AIR CONV,70 454/air CONV,

Re: Documentation
As good as the documents are getting, they cannot make them exactly the way they should be. Personally I have only examined three of them. I have three pieces for my car to compare them to. All three have flaws in them. My guess would be the rest do too if you know where to look.
Please do not ask how to tell the difference. If I tell the easy way to tell, by next month it will have been fixed and then it will be much harder to tell what is real and what is not.
I happen to own one of the two cars that there are far more of now than back in the day. I loved my car back then and the fact that everybody wants to copy it is a compliment. The shame is, it also drives the price down. I have owned it long enough that I will never loose money on the car, even after restoration, but none of that matters to me.I did not buy the car to make money on it back then, or now for that matter.
It is a shame that documentation has become like a nose. Everybody has one, but you better be careful how hard you wipe it.
So, let's just go back to enjoying the cars and nothing has changed at all. You still have to live with "Buyer Beware" and common sense as we should have been doing all along.- Top

Re: Documentation
Send or post a photo. Don't mention the VIN. Let's see if I can get a close approximation using the info on the photos I currently have. In addition to fakes, I've run across a few that appear to belong to another car. One had an order received date after the car was built(and left the factory).- Top

Re: Documentation
Wow amazing stuff right down to the rusted seat spring transfer to the build sheet. Now every time I see that I will immediately wonder if they are real. They don't by chance do birth certificates do they?- Top

Re: Documentation
The big reason for this is the cost to restore a Corvette to high NCRS standerds is so much. If you take the price of the Corvette + 40 to 80.000.00 to restore you are upside down BIG TIME for a low option small block & even for most BB cars. Lets not kid ourselves money is driving our hobby.65 350 TI CONV 67 J56 435 CONV,67,390/AIR CONV,70 454/air CONV,
