Re: Home remedies
Two of our neighbor's cats seem to help with the outside. I have used poison inside the black box type traps located outside of the garage and mothballs inside. They all seem to help. I put the poison bars inside the corners of the garage doors where they seem to be able to squeeze through. Only found one deceased mouse inside the garage the past years. A wandering copper head inside the garage helped last year I am sure. Don't waste your money on the chirping electronic "deterrents" as I have had three over the years and NONE have ever worked (how many does it take for me to learn??), as evidenced by the mouse droppings on top of the "deterrent". Money down the turrlet.

Re: Home remedies
I remember a particular red '55 Corvette back in '75 that we swapped an original engine back in. We worked the heat riser until it was open before firing up the engine. The whole right side pipe must have been full of mouse condos from all the debris blown out onto the driveway.

Re: Home remedies
tom's post reminded me of my encounter with mice nests about 10 years ago. i'd bought a 29 chevy convert. landau in the heart of W Va. where it was housed in an equipment shed(it was used to pull a hay rake from 1957 up until i bought the old girl). anyway, i trailered it home and had it running the next day. wanting to see how it performed, i left our driveway and headed up the road. about a 1/2 mile from home, smoke began to engulf the interior . it didn't smell of an electrical fire but rather like a burning pile of treetops. anyway, i pulled over and the smoking diminished considerably. starting back up again at about 20 mph, the smoke intensified. i turned the car aroud in the neighbor's driveway and the smoking reduced again as i was stopped. proceeding back home, the smoke began again as well as red hot embers being deposited on the mohair front seat just inches from my "boys" . the mohair eventually started smoking as well. i got back to the shop with intact ********s but a singed mohair seat covering. turns out a previous owner had installed an aftermarket hot air heater which consised of a metal box surrounding the exhaust manifold and ducted thru the firewall just above the steering colume. the metl heat capturing device was loaded with a mouse nest and the front wall of the metal box was missing(explaining why the fire intensified while the car was moving). gives new meaning to the term"hot nuts, hot nuts, get em in yer chevrolet" . mike- Top

Re: Home remedies
I'm going to try that water wheel idea. I sure solves the problem of sick mice crawling into tight passages in your car to die.- Top

Re: Home remedies
Morris,
I also have heard dryer sheets in aiding on working with traps. I am trying a pricey
safe product [$18.00 a box}. It is Fresh Cab botanical rodent repellent, smells good.My first year on
trying it out even though I haven't had mice problems as of yet, but want to keep it
that way. I had purchased mine at Ace Hardware here.- Top
