    Home remedies

Does anyone know of any home remedies for keeping mice and other animals out of the car during storage or for that matter anytime? I heard that iris spring soap defers mice from getting into the car. Any thoughts on the subject?

I have a 3 car detached garage with 3 Corvette in it that I keep at 45 to 50 degrees during the winter.
To keep out mice year all year round I leave a radio on very loud playing obnoxious music.
I have never seen any signs of mice since I built the garage 10 years ago.

Moth Balls I was told works, make sure to seal up all cracks, like under the garage door and access doors.

I use Bounce scented dryer sheets in my 67's and they seem to work well...IMHO

here is what i use at our camp while it is closed during the winter. i use the pink "RV" anti freeze instead of water because it preserves the mice till we get there in the spring. if you can check and empty the trap regularly you can use water http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4A8o7...eature=related

I use a couple of outside bait boxes http://lawn-and-garden.hardwarestore...on-602993.aspx and Havoc XT or Just One Bite blocks. Pet proof boxes, have not see signs of mice in two years now.

Traps under the car. Poison bars in the corners of the garage and in the engine compartment, cockpit and trunk. Check frequently for activity.

                    Morris,

                    You can try this:

They got in and built a nest under the air cleaner of my 67 SB. Also got in behind the console through my missing tack/speedo grommet. The nest is built out of my behind the console firewall insulation.
Never caught the suckers, but I saved the insulation to glue it back some day. And the never came back.

I doubt that this method would work on a big block, not to much room for the traps.

                    Have fun,

Get a CAT. We bought a new house in 1975 built in a farm field at that time . Lots of mice! It took about a week for my two cats to remove them . My cats come and go as they want in the garage , The mice smell the cats and dont come around anymore in the house or garage .
I have found in our area racoons and groundhogs do way more damage than mice . They eat the insulation off wiring .We have cars towed in every year at the dealer I worked at .About 3 years ago one young racoon ate the firewall insulation out of 14 new Silverados.

yes but don't feed them or they will just play with the mice.

Our cat population varies from 9 to 11. When one or two age and pass on someone dumps some new kittens in our yard. Everyone gets fixed to control the population. This year there was more signs of mice in the flower beds but with that was a larger than normal body count left on the porch and deck for praise. They were coming up to the house from the fields this year. Probably looking for water during the drought. We have never had any in the house, garage or shop except for the one dead one that was brought into the kitchen and dropped in front of my wife so he could show her what he caught. Good kitty.

We feed the cats daily too. They may play with their victims a little longer but the result is always the same. I'd rather they didn't eat the mice. That saves on wormer and the fun process of giving it to 11 cats.

our manx cats used to play with them also and you had to be careful when they came in the house with one as it could be still alive.
