What is the correct length for the heater fresh air hose as used on the 1958-62 Corvette original part #3870283 and also what is the correct length on the 1956-57 Corvette?

      Bill,

For the 58-62 fresh air hose, I am not sure there ever was a specified length. What we would expect to see is the hose stretched out so the ribs are expanded and not compressed.

I hope this this helps some.

      Regards,

      Dennis

Re: 62 fresh air hose reproduction

Question about replacing hose: In addition to the 2 clamps, one at each end, there are 2 support straps, each attached to upper inner fender liner with a hex head bolt. Can these just be removed and then screwed back in or is there a nut on other side of liner that will fall off when the bolts are removed to remove air hose?
        Thanks

They can be screwed back in. There is no nut on the other side.

Not bolts. Should be Phillips pan-head screws.

Talking about the attachment of the top of the straps to the inner fender liner. Are these, as well as the bottom attaching hardware supposed to be Phillips head screws?

Yes, Phillips pan head screws. Either the top or the bottom is painted during the black-out process and the other screw is left natural. Often the holes in the fiberglass are worn-out (too big) and need to be filled in.

Doc Rebuild has discontinued this hose. What's closest to original available?
