I took these photos of a display at Altoona - 1962 Corvette Sebring Racer.

          Tom,

Did you know that GM also offered a complete over the counter HD brake installation package for 57-62 that was released at the same time as the stabilizer bar kit? Consists of drums, fans and self adjusting brake kits, part number 3823053.
This kit would have become available around summer/fall of 1962.

Yep, I was aware of that.

Was this secondary front sway bar in ADDITION to the normal sway bar or a heavier duty replacement? Jerry

In addition. Added to the bottom of the frame and aft portion of lower a-arms.

Franz-others, What was the diameter of factory secondary sway bar in kit?

I ran across the above bulletin in the Restorer and zoomed in on it so I could read it.

Not to steal a thread, but none of those listed on that page ever were assembly-line installed. The AIM includes the dual fan belt installation late in the year, but we've documented a number of 14xxx serial number cars that never had that set-up from the factory. That's reflected in the JG.
Also, I've looked at half a dozen original 61s and 62s with the secondary front stabilizer assembly. The brackets that are welded to the frame (that are tapped to receive the bolts for the u-shaped bar retainer) are precisely located and done with a quality weld job. Almost like done with being jigged in place. Welded from below? Or done by GM (pulled off the line and done?). (I'm talking about the Sebring/Daytona GM engineering cars of that day)
By the way, those secondary front stabilizer bars were already installed on the Gulf Oil 61s in the fall of 1960.

                          Mike:

That was exactly the point Sam Folz was making in the Restorer article I got the bulletin from.
(I zoomed in on the bulletin and cut out Sam's comments to make the bulletin a full page.)
