Re: Correct C2 Exhaust Clamp Vendor

Jeff, just realized that the number on the clamp is a pattern number. Search shows it was issued around Oct 1955 to a Riker. As you can see from the picture the pat. no. was not restricted to the clamp size.
However that in no way means that either are not GM clamps.
If it turns out these are the correct clamps then the nut used for 2.5 was different then that called for on the 2.0 clamp, pn 273802.

Did a search of an old catalog - (Oct 1, 1963)
    2.0 U Bolt, exh. pipe clamp (5/16 - 18) Gr 3.708 pn 3824283
    2.5 U Bolt, front exhaust pipe clamp (5/16 - 18) Gr 3.708 pn 3824528
    2.5 Clamp Unit, exhaust muffler (2 1/2"pipe) Gr 3.708 pn 2378616.
Another one was also found 62-64 Corvette Clamp Unit w/U-bolt, exhaust pipe and muffler (2" pipes) (stamped 3754883) pn 3754883

      Jeff,

I'm confused. Do the service replacement NOS clamps not have raised area on the bottom clamp? But the GM production clamps did have the raise area?

        Scott -

The N-11 pipes used the same clamps as the production pipes; the only difference for the N-11 pipes was the number of internal baffles in the mufflers.

As best I can tell the 2" clamp with "Leak-Tite" on the box refers to a trademark of AP Industries, Inc., of Toledo, Ohio. The trademark was filed back in 1966 and the trademark is now dead. I can find no record of that same company in the same business, so I suspect they no longer exist.

Here are a few of the clamps/brackets I have.
            Looking for identification.
            Thanks in advance,
            George

Think these are from a '64?

Think this is from a '63?

Gary - All I can tell you is that the 2" clamps that are old GM have the raised area and that the 2.5" GM clamps that I posted a picture of do not. And the LI Corvette 2.5" clamps do not have the raised area... Best to you - Jeff Cornwell
