    Paint Chip Repair Methods (?)

All, does anyone have a good (successful) process to repair small chips in body paint (1 to 2 mm in diameter?). I am looking for
approaches for both Lacquer paint and today's base coat clear coat types. Where the end result is a nice smooth finish with the
existing paint & good color match. Thanks Tony

I tried Dr. ColorChip for my '67 Rally Red lacquer, the color matched well, and the small stone chips were harder to see, but not totally gone. I needed several applications to fill the chip.

Anthony, your local autobody supply store should have small "Q" tip like applicators. For paint, I have used model aircraft/car paint. You may have to buy two bottles to blend to match your color. Take your time, apply a "dab", let it dry and do it again. If done carefully the chips are hard to find.

You can get away with stone chip repair with solid colors very easily. When you get into metallic colors it a whole different story. What color are you working with?

Actually, the best ones I have ever seen are usually associated with Mercedes or Porsche dealers, but they ain't cheap....

Another way to repair small rock chips is to use a small syringe, like an insulin syringe and carefully apply the paint to the middle of the chip and fill the hole. It will take several applications to completely fill the chip bu you don't have to worry about smudging the area around the chip and the finished product looks great with solid colors. But, like was said earlier its a different story with metallics. I'm lucmky that my wife is diabetic so getting the syringes is easy for me. But, if you are good friends with you doctor you might be able to talk him into a prescription for a few if you don't have the luck I have.
