I am in the process of taking apart a very rustfree 67 chassis and thought I'd post some pictures of the markings and such I have found so far. The first posting is of the driveshaft. After removing paint which was applied about 30 years ago, you can clearly see the green and orange stripes applied to the driveshaft. Also, where the paint was rubbed away, you can see that the tubing used to manufacture the driveshaft had a very shiney finish to it. I've also included a picture of the driveshaft stripes with a ruler to gauge the width and location of the stripes.

Enclosed are paint markings for the front spindle castings. It appears that there is only paint applied to one end of the castings, not both ends.NCRS New England Chapter Chairman 2022, 2024

Re: 67 Corvette Chassis Markings, Stampings and Casting Numbers
Enclosed are pictures of the manual steering drag link. It appears to be silver hammertone painted. I welcome comments as to the originality of this finish on this part. It appears to deviate from the Judging Guide.Attached Files- silver plating or painting steering cross shaft.jpg (42.5 KB, 121 views)

Re: 67 Corvette Chassis Markings, Stampings and Casting Numbers
Very interesting pictures. Is this an unrestored survivor car? How many miles? Interesting that the paint stripes on the driveshaft don't show much separation like the ones on Shelbys do, but the driveshaft material (shiny) was the same. And the DANA stamp is surprising, I didn't know that DANA built these parts for GM, I thought they were only Mopar manufacturers. Thanks, good history.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: 67 Corvette Chassis Markings, Stampings and Casting Numbers
Thanks for the pics Thomas, especially the spindles.
Off the top of my head, the numbers and marking is identical to my 67, even the double Dana stamping.
My driveshaft has the small gap.Attached Files- Top

Re: 67 Corvette Chassis Markings, Stampings and Casting Numbers
Tom, nice pic.s , I think what your seeing is from the forging process. I have the same on my 63 and 72 after cleaning the grease from those parts.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Great photos, nice detail! The bright spots you see on the steering relay rod are from the trim die that trimmed off the parting line flash remaining from the forging operation.- Top
