Pat M, that is my problem. The owner says it is and I have to take his word on it.

Other than that one problem, the pattern seems to fit.

My 1995 does not have a date code after July 27,1994 (Alternator), since it was probably produced the second, or even the first day of 1995 production.

It was the 139 Corvette built on the regular production schedule. Actual buid date of August 4, 1994.

I have furnished Tom Barr with my findings on the possible date coding of the air filters. As usual, he was very receptive of the information.

The one original air filter that Charlie has came off my 95 Corvette. I can verify that. I keep all my old parts from my older Corvettes. I don't like throwing things away. I still have my original 1984 Corvette Crossfire Air filter. Pictures available to anyone that needs them.

Over the years, the identification of air filters evolved from AC SPARK PLUG to AC ROCHESTER to AC DELCO. The AC SPARK PLUG stamp was used when that was the name of the business. Next, AC SPARK PLUG DIVISION and ROCHESTER PRODUCTS DIVISION were merged and was renamed AC ROCHESTER. Some time after that merger, all replacement marketing of AC and DELCO products were consolidated into the AC DELCO organization although they continued to be manufactured in the original manufacturing facilities. AC DELCO has no manufacturing facilities. Subsequently, the component manufacturing facilities were spun off from General Motors and became Delphi. AC DELCO continues to sell replacement products under the AC DELCO brand and they purchase them from various manufacturers since Delphi closed down most of those manufacturing sites.

To my knowledge, OEM and replacement filters came off the same line with the same stamping and went into an individual box for replacement and a bulk box for shipping to an assembly plant.

My 93 Corvette was built in August of 1992 and I still have the original filter stamped AC SPARK PLUG A1097C.

Don, could you somehow get me a picture of your 1993 air filter for my data base.

George is this the original air filter off your 1995?

I would convert the date code of 4K17D to 4-1994, K-November, 17-17th day of the month and D for Day Shift.

George does that fit your 1995 that has a build date of November 1994?

George, the date coding that we are trying to establish for the air filter still fits your Corvette.

Your Corvette that was built on the last day of November, 1994, had the air filter with a date code of November 17, 1994.

It is close, but it fits.

I still have one small problem air filter that I am working on. Will let everyone know the results.

Don has promised to send along his original 1993 air filter and when I get it I will post it here.

Pat, I believe that the "C" code is for March - the 3rd month - I believe you are referring to my filter when you mention the code 6C06D - being produced on March 6, 1996 day shift for a carwith 06/96 production.

Jim, you are correct, the C is for March and not April.

In my data base I have it listed as a March month.

The eyes and the hands and the brain sometimes do not talk to each other as once they did.

This is my second post, the first one got lost somewhere.

Attached you will find the air filter submitted by Don. This is off his 1993, with a build date of 8/92.

You can see the differences between the AC SPARKPLUG AND THE AC ROCHESTER/DELCO.

TOM, could you send us a photo of your air filter. If you can not upload it to this site. send it along to fulassoc@comcast.net.

Anyone can ask and I will give you all the information that I have collected, mostly from other members.
