I can't explain or give any info about the third outlet, but it was my understanding that all 66 427 motors were smog exempt...only the small blocks got smog if going to a California dealer in 66.....Best Regards....ARA- Top

Re: 1966 A.I.R aircleaner base
John,
According to the 1966 Corvette AIM the air cleaner asm. used on the 427 eng. w/A.I.R. is part # 6421963 as shown on UPC K19, sheet A4. In the drawing it appears that hose # 3884655 is connected on the passenger side, hose # 3888363 is connected on the back side, and hose # 3889356 is attached on the driver's side. The stud which is located on the driver's side is used to attach clamp # 3885003 (UPC K19, sheet A5).
GM # 6421963 is also listed as the air cleaner asm. for the 1966 Corvette w/A.I.R., H.P. 427 in my 1966 Chev. Parts catalog (Oct. 1965) in Gr. 3.402.
Can you post a few photos?
My 1967 Corvette AIM lists GM # 6423689 as the part number for the air cleaner asm. for the 427 eng. w/A.I.R. as shown on UPC K19, sheet A4.
The air cleaner shows only one tube which connects to hose # 3884655. GM # 6423689 does not appear in my 1967, 1968, and 1969 Chevrolet Parts catalogs (Apr. & July 1967, Oct. 1967, and Oct. 1968) but list GM # 6421963 for 1966-1967 Corvettes w/A.I.R., H.P. 427 eng.
GM # 6421963 was replaced with GM # 6484413 in March 1970 as per Chevrolet Parts History.

I might have not been as clear as I should have been in my original post...It was my understanding that the 427/425 or 427/450 cars were SMOG exempt..I am trying to attach the thread from the DB from July 12, 2012 that was a thorough explanation/discussion on the topic...Dave, out of curiosity are the items you listed relegated to a 427/390 car? I am curious....Thanks...ARA thread https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...ht=air+cleaner- Top

That's how it was. 1966 with L-36 delivered to California had AIR; L-72 did not. The same basic thing applied to full size Chevrolet and Chevelles for 1966. L-36 in full size Chevrolets had AIR; L-72 did not. For Chevelles, the base 325 HP 396 and the L-34 360 HP 396 had AIR; the L-78 375HP 396 did not. I may have forgotten a lot of things but I recall this all very well.
For 1967 things changed. All Corvettes delivered to California had AIR with the possible exception of L-88. There were probably only a handful of L-88's delivered to California and, if they ever had AIR, it was probably removed the first day it was delivered to a customer. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
