Thanks Vinnie. I need a firm schedule as I want to book the hotel today. Too bad you're not the "Chef of the Future" at the McCagh bash. I'll probably be traveling with your group (Long Island Tour???) with the '65 hot rod.

              Hi Scott,

Probably the LI RT but if you would you give me info on the RT's in my region that I can choose from, I'd appreciate it.
              Thanks.

The "tail of the dragon" referenced by Terry is a VERY winding section of US 129 on the NC-TN line. And when we in the mountains of Western North Carolina say "very winding," believe us.

Part of the Southeast tour drove it on the way to San Antonio in 2006. Check it out at http://tailofthedragon.com/dragon.html

Oh, now I remember that road. But I haven't been on it since 1970, when an old girl friend convinced me it was a short-cut to Asheville and her home town of Tryon, NC. My old '64 Dodge Polara 500 wasn't able to fully appreciate it, I suspect they haven't widened it either, but I would like to take the ZR1 on it. Even though the Smokies are no Rockies, the area does have some terrain.

Actually, if this Tail of the Dragon were near the end of the California tour, you could start at Santa Monica Pier, take Cal.2 across the San Gabriels on the Angeles Crest segment of 2 to Palmdale. Then make your way through Death Valley and 'Vegas to my favorite twisty road, the Coronado Trail in Arizona

And then across northern New Mexico on US 64, the PCA's #1 sports car road:

Before crossing the flat, long great plains area to make your way to Tail of the Dragon. That would be a great tour.

We are pleased to announce eight separate Road Tours for 2013. This will be the 31st National RT. Kansas, New England, Florida, Texas, Denver, North Carolina, Ontario and Metro Long Island will be our starting locations. The next issue of the Driveline will have a complete outline of each RT. Remember that your Corvette was made to be driven.

The Cumberland Motel. I stay there every time I go to Doc's. Last time I stayed there it was $38.00 a night and Barb apologized for having to go up on the price

Sad that a Cali tour is not in the list, so much beautiful country between Cali and Texas or Colo./Kansas.

Michael, There is lots of time for you to plan a RT from Cali. If you cannot travel all the way to Hampton then hand your group over to another RT leader.
