In this case, the car should be DISQUALIFIED if DOT marked beams are detected. Neither intensity nor light color should need to be evaluated since DOT mandates that beams supply a minimum amount of lumens, and LL beams must comply with this. LL states that their beams supply about 25% more brightness, as stated above in post #25. Reading the PV Test Guide and interpreting literally, means that a car having detectible Lectric Limited replacement beams shall be immediately disqualified. Excerpt from p6 of Second Edition 1963-1967 Ops Manual/PV Test Guide:

Two tests are to be used which determine if an alteration from original config. will disqualify a car. Acceptable equip. meets BOTH the following:
    1. Does not provide an operational advantage or enhancement to the designed function of the vehicle.
    2. Does not result in a different mode of operation or provide a different result than would be expected from the original part.

The Corvette must be equipped with bias ply tires. Other types, such as radials, would disqualify the car...................................

I can understand that but I would think they could at least sell them in sets of 2 low and 2 high.
I have one burned out original low beam and have to buy a set of 4 to upgrade a bit?
I hardly ever drive my 66 at night. Upgraded low beams would be plenty.
I wish there was a source.
      Thanks for the LL info.

        Thanks.
Where did you get the two repro low beams? I'm looking for two.

I called Lectric Limited to verify the current DOT marking situation. Based on information that I had previously I gave incorrect information on the DOT markings being on the inside of the lamps in my earlier post. They inform me that the DOT markings will always be on the lens as they have been in the past. Sorry for any confusion I may have created.
Dave, thanks for the update. No confusion created, you're fine.

Rick, I didn't get two repro low beams. I'm not ready for judging yet. But I believe that in the future we'll be able to get them seperate from the high beams. We'll just have to wait and see. I was just wondering about the point deduction.

            Thanks.

Morris, a "day late & a dollar short", but I called my local N.A.P.A. retailer concerning subject bulbs. They stock replacements part # H-5001, and # H-5006 at under $ 10.00 ea. Was caught in subject, so opened up a Wagner #4002 in my stock and noted it had a smooth mirror back finish w/ amber seals on prongs. The front lens also has an imperfection in clear glass near center of bulb as well. Happy & Safe touring. Bill

What T-3's have members been buying for their 1959 cars? I have an early '60 and from what I've read in the JG, I need the T-3's for 1958-59 with the Guide above the triangle and pebble grain inside the triangle. It doesn't appear that anyone supplies those.
