I solved the mystery. I opened the coil spring frame so I could remove the spring. On the choke spring I bought from Corvette Central the brass pin that the spring slides in the choke frame had a round shaft that was press fit into the frame. (The other choke I bought had a square pin so you could not turn). I could rotate the pin with pliers and turned the pin, which changed the slot position that the spring went in. This adjusted the sping position and allowed me to adjust choke. I had to put on and take a few times to get it right but choke works great now. Thanks to everyone for their input.
