    1967 shifter adjustment gauge

    Hi,

Can anyone give me the dimensions of this gauge. I know they are cheap, but the S & H will be five times as much and this is a one time use.

I've had my tranny rebuilt and have to readjustment the linkage arms, so the gauge is where I need to start.

The back-up light switch rod doen"t line up either.

    Thanks

    Jerry

I made one from and old beer can opener. Cut the end off and use the flat part. It's about 5/8" wide. The dimensions may be in your shop manual. If you haven't installed the linkage yet you can measure the slot.

Still say you don't need a gauge. I have never used one. Just lay a drill bit on the back where the relief is and bump all of the levers to it. Actually can just look at it and tell.

I'm with Wayne, never needed one and that includes the setup I powershifted at the drags a few years back, with a stock shifter! Just line up the notches and you will be fine.

Jerry, I maybe a day late and a dollar short, but I like to adjust the shift levers while the trans is on the bench. a drill bit will work.

            Thanks everyone.

When I got the trany back from being rebuilt, I did not "readjust" the linkage, I made the assumption that the linkage adjustments would remain the same. Bad assumption as the tranny and shifter are in the car already!!!

Looks like I've got a project this morning!!

Thanks to everyone for helping me with this project. The diagram for the correct gage from John Hinckley was great. I modified it somewhat and used the narrower end to align the shifter arms while the shifter was out of the car. Then I taped the gage in position and then installed it in the car. I then removed the tape and gage after the sifter arms were adjusted and attached. It shifts great!

              My thanks!!
