    65 SB fan blade

I just noticed the other day that my (non air) 65 365 has on it a fan blade from a 63 a/c car or early 64 a/c car it has more pitch and is 18" across with the mushroom head rivets , reads the words front and a letter H stamped into it,my question is it hard to find a good original 17-1/8 with flat rivets for my 65, I see that someone makes a reproduction fan , anyone try one of these and is the quality good.

I cannot answer your question in regard to the quality (or NCRS judgeability?) of repro fans. But, if you have the seven-bladed fan, know that it is a rare piece. It is worth some money and possibly you could trade the 7-bladed fan for a correct original non-A/C fan (common) and some money.

Try Pete Lindahl. He should have a correct original.

Jim - From the description it sounds like you have the is the Hays-Albion fan blade assembly used on 63, 66, & 67 sb Corvettes and other GM passenger cars equipped w/C60.
The 66 & 67 sb Corvettes and other GM passenger cars could have also come equipped with Switzer Clutch (SC) 18" dia fan blade assembly. The 64 & 65 Corvettes w/C60 used a 7 blade 18" dia fan blade assembly.Pete

The 58-63 Chev. Pass w/AC, 61 Chev (348), and 61-63 Chev.(327,409) models used a 18" dia. 5-blade fan w/dome type rivets, GM # 3749576. GM # 3749576 was replaced in July 1964 (as per Chev. Parts History for over the counter parts) with a GM # 3789562 fan (18" dia., 5 blades, generally flat head rivets). The 3789562 was used on various 64-67 Chevrolet models w/AC and 66-67 Corvettes w/AC. The 3749576 and the 3789562 fans were made by Hayes-Albion. I have a few 3749576 fans but they are damaged.

The 3789562 fan is listed in the 63 AIM for 63 Corvettes w/AC but from what I have heard over the years it was never actually installed on the 1963 Corvette assembly line. The base fan (GM # 3770529) apparently was installed on AC models. I have no documentation, just "here say" information.

The 3863137 fan (18" dia, 5 blades) was made by the Schwitzer Company and stamped with the Schwitzer part number 912239 as well as a date code. This fan was also used on 66-67 Corvettes w/AC and other 65-67 Chevrolet models w/AC as well.
