Here is a pic of an NOS one Right side that I also have. No mig welds and No indentation. I do have another NOS valve cover not sure of the year but is chromed not a K-19 option and has the indents along the side. I think the indent is for other GM cars like chevelles camaros passenger big block? I don't think the dents were ever on the 67 L89 or K19 option.
George your valve cover seems to fit the late 67 68 and early 69 era. You showed a pic of the end of the valve cover and it has a point, That I know is for the drivers style for a 68 Vette.
I recall someone also showed me a 68 COPO Nova with a 396 and it had the point at the end of the valve cover but no wire clips.
