    '72 Vacuum hose clips

While using the AIM to re-route the vacuum lines on my '72 I noticed a clip that is riveted to the surround just above the heater box that isn't on my car. Suppose it wasn't added when the new surround was installed. I attached a pic of another car, a '71, showing the clip for refrence. What type of rivet was used and should it be painted?

Also, should there be a similar clip on the opposite side of the surround above the vacuum tank?

    Thanks!!!

    Lynn,

Photos of both sides of the surround - including this clip - are in my photo collection accessible through the link in my signature below.
They'll answer both of your questions.

Patrick, thanks. I did take a lok and it is obvious that the rivits are painted and that there are clips on both sides.

On the "what type of rivit" question I'm not sure. In your pics it looks like a pop rivet, I think I see a hole in the center. In the pic I posted it does not. Can you clarify this?? Thanks!!

Yes, it does have a hole like a pop rivet.

          Hi Lynn,
I haven't ever been able to find these 2 clips' fasteners in the AIM. The clips are shown and listed in UPC 12, Sheets A14 and A 15; but no fastener is called out.
The left side clip is also shown in UPC 1, Sheet D 10; but isn't called out.
I have a list of 19 places pop rivets with part #s are used, but nothing for these 2.
Definitely pop rivets on my 71.
          Regards,
          Alan

Do you think they're aluminum? Also, would it be possible to get the diameter of the head? Thanks!

              Hi Lynn,
Here are the originals from my 71. The car's been painted, but they are the originals.
I'd say the head measures 3/8", and the rivets appear to be aluminium to me.
              Regards,
              Alan
