    54 carb fitting

Hi, does anyone have a pic of the correct gas line fitting into the carb at firewall ( Diff. than other two carb fittings) and can you get them somewhere? Thanks, Brad.

    Re: 54 carb fitting

That fitting on my unrestored #3300 is a simple inverted flare fitting, common as dirt:

Jim, seems youre middle fitting is the one we are talking about, all three of mine appear to be the one you have at the firewall? where to get one? thanks, Brad.

        Mary Jo has them
        Grossmuellers has them
and correct - 2 are the same - one is different

          Brad,

I'm a little confused. I thought we were talking about the fitting at the rear-most carburetor.

It is a plain, readily available inverted flare fitting, sold at any NAPA store. It looks like this:

The middle and front carburetors use an archaic form of compression fitting, not readily available. If Mary Jo or Grossmeullers still sells them, then problem solved. In any event, this is what you want:

          Good luck in your hunt.

Jim, I have all three what you have on the rear carb and they tell me this one is wrong and I need a correct fitting for the rear whatever that is and if youre center shown is correct. Thanks, Brad.

              Brad,

Is it incorrect because it does not have the Weatherhead logo ("W" with an arrow) stamped on it? I have a 1963 Weatherhead catalog.

I'm not real clear on what you are asking, Brad. Which style of fitting do you need?

Guys, Im asking cause I dont know, I believe all three of my fittings are the street elbows, front two okay, and am told the rear is a different shape, (flight judging), guess I need to see a pic of a 54 that has all three of these correct by judging, hope this helps, thanks, Brad.

Brad, the pictures I posted early in this thread (color of #3300 and B/W from GM) are of the fittings you want.

The rear carburetor takes a 90 degree, 5/16 inverted flare to 1/8" pipe fitting..... sold everywhere fine autoparts are sold.

The middle and front carburetors take an archaic 90 degree compression fitting.... apparently available from Mary Jo and Grossmeullers.

                    Is that now more clear?

                    Jim

Hi Jim, back again, they are telling me my front and middle fitting which is like your rear fitting are correct and my rear is wrong which must be the two you have on your front and middle, hmm, will talk to Carol at GMs. Sorry, Brad.

                        "They" are wrong.

You'll notice the old GM photos show exactly the same fitting arrangement that is on my unrestored #3300 '54.

Thanks again Jim, I will see if I can find some of these, Brad.
