    65 Powered Antenna

How many total sections should there be?

    How high when totally extended?

    How short when retracted?

Any pics of your antenna would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Mike (53411)

Mike, the 1965 power antenna is something that I have been fussing with for a few months. I had a repro one on my car when I bought it three years ago and I have installed a rebuilt original in order to recover 7 originality points.

Here is what the 1965 JG has to say: "...consists of four stainless steel telescoping sections, with a dart shaped tip at the top. The three outside sections of the mast have an indented ring (relief cut) a full 360 degrees and approximately 1/2" down from their top edge. The height in the lowered position is approximately 13-1/2"; however, this varies slightly from car to car.".

I have attached a photo of the extended antenna. The height of my unit is 51" from the tip to the fiberglass body (including the nut).

Thank you very much for the help. I must not have an original as it has 3 sections and no dart for a tip!
