    1957 engine

I found a 1957 dual quad engine for sale, but it has a F425EB stamp on the pad. What is that from? Thanks for any tips.

OK, thanks, very interesting, not even a '57! Kind of misrepresented.

EB is a 57 engine code. it is a 283 w 2-4 bbl carb +hi lift cam. it is not found on a corvette.

it is not necessary to list all the different years that EB is used. F425EB will only be found on a 57 block pad. the other years have different arrangement of pad numbers.

                  No such animal.

Top of the line in '57 was the Bel Air.

Also, '57 passenger car engine codes weren't specific to the trim lines. An EB engine could have gone into a 150, 210, or a Bel Air.

in 1957 , what was the transmission used with the EB motor?

3 speed, non-overdrive. All solid lifter engines, such as the "EB" suffix came with manual transmissions.

3 speed in pass car as noted by Jim L.

pre 57 cars had 7 digit engine sequence numbers on the pad and mid sixty EB pads were showing partial vin#. i did not include any late 50 or early 60 EB engines because none had the dual quads that mike mentioned.

Most if not all were 3 speed close ratio with 3.55 rear end from the factory.
