I'm in the process of restorating a 69 BB coupe. In searching for new front springs all I can find are reproductions that are painted black. If I can not find orginials, how many points will be lost in judging do to the non natural finish?

Re: 69 BB front springs
Phil, just remove the paint from the springs. and if you don't like the rusting problem, use a couple of coats of satin clear paint. and that as close as you'll get to natural.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Ed, thanks, but I believe its powder coating. I have used the clear on my other cars with great success.- Top

Re: 69 BB front springs
I just went through this on a '69 BB convertible.
Volunteer Vettes has a set they list as 'exact' (yeah, I know) reproductions. The appearance is flawless, heat treated blue steel. The number of coils, wire diameter, and all that other stuff was right based on the spring data I found. They are in the car and look like the installed height will work out nice. The springs are the variable rate style and are somewhat of a bear to install, but I think they will be great.

Dan, thanks, I'll check them out. Their online page says they only have SB springs?- Top

Re: 69 BB front springs
If your front end height is correct, I'll probably go with them. The 69 Judge told me the black springs are a 2 point deduct. Thanks for your help!!- Top
