I believe the negative battery cable terminal installs under the outside (short) starter motor attachment bolt.

Thanks for the info, and that is where I thought but my cable is not long enough.

You have the wrong cable. First of all, the original cable used was not braided; it was insulated cable. Second, the cable should be 25" center-to-center in length.

The braided cable is for a 63 with C60 A/C. It would ground on the left side front exhaust manifold IIRC.

My 63 does have the A/C, I did not mention before. When you refer to the front of the exhaust manifold you mean radiator, correct?

Now that surprises me. I was assuming that you were talking about a non-AC car. There were very few 1963 Corvettes built with AC and, likely, a very small number of convertibles. Also, I was not aware that AC cars used the braided-type negative battery cable but I learn something every day.

You're welcome Mike.....I saw that '63 about a year ago and took many pictures. I'm pretty sure the ground strap is original to the car.

It's a 300HP, with PG auto trans, PW, PS. Been sitting outside under a cover here in Florida since 2004.

Nope, won't sell. He had a fuelie SWC, and this convertible was his wife's car since the 70's. He sold the SWC years ago but kept this one. He started taking it apart years ago in his back garage. When the hurricanes came in '04, he pulled it out of there because the water was rising. He brought it out front to higher ground, covered it up, then he got ill. He knows it's getting worse daily but doesn't want to part with it.

Thanks this is a great picture. One question did they put the battery on both sides. My battery is located on the passenger side of the car, just forward of the firewall tucked into the right front fender well.
