A few years ago I ordered replacement carb gaskets from Paragon. I just noticed that they had one gasket labeled "Center Carb, This side up". Am I missing something that the Center Carb gasket was different from the two ends?

Re: Tri-Power Carb Mounting Gaskets
the gasket has to cover the external vacuum passage under the carb and if installed up side down you will have a vacuum leak- Top

Re: Tri-Power Carb Mounting Gaskets
Hey Clem -- I click on your thumbnail and nothing expands.
Jack and others --- (starting ?) at beginning of 1968 production, [per Aug '67 Corvette Service News] the plant used thinner tripower carb-to-manifold gaskets, replacing the thicker material used in the 1967 MY L68, L71 and L89's, and which caused sticky secondary carb throttle shafts due to over-torquing the carb nuts and unevenly compressing the thick carb gasket.
These new gaskets were identified by following lettering: "this side up END carburetors" and "this side up CENTER carburetors". I don't know what the '67 and '68 TIM&JG's say about this, but a sharp eye should be able to tell which thickness is used (or should be present for TFP) on the '67's.- Top

Re: Tri-Power Carb Mounting Gaskets
Thanks Wayne. It looks like I have the correct ones. I always thought the 3 were identical and was very aware on how they mount on each carb mount on the intake. I have been trying to diagnose a "vapor lock" like problem for quite sometime and was wondering if the carb gaskets I used prevoiusly might be giving me this problem. Lord knows I have looked at everything else. The car would start and run fine that after a longer run would die out at idle. I would have to wait 15 or 20 minutes and it would then start. It would crank fine but not fire up.Jack Corso

Re: Tri-Power Carb Mounting Gaskets
I doubt it is just Wayne's computer. Mine has been doing the same thing, and yet the post about the 7-pound radiator cap is OK -- I can expand that photo just fine. In the last few days something has changed with the type of photo posted or this site. I will check from work tomorrow and see if the same thing happens there.Terry- Top

I can zoom it also (Ctrl-scroll wheel), but it doesn't enlarge when you click on it. If you right-click on it and then click Properties, it's only 2520K, 100x72.- Top
