    Thanks Dick.

    I know enough Autocad to be dangerous. I think I'll try making a few of these and see how they come out.

      Bill,

      Glad to have someone check my work! I was a bit nervous about putting out some misinformation.

        Were original threads rolled or cut?

          The original threads look to me like 5/16" ROLLED.

            The judging was held today at Tony's Corvette Shop in Maryland. What a great day and a super event!
            The battery hold down bolts passed judging. My score was a solid TOP FLIGHT at 98.6. Life is good!
            Thanks to all.

                [QUOTE=Wayne Sullivan (40646);606175]Hello,

                Just as an FYI, I bought a very nice Delco Tar Top battery yesterday from The Antique Auto Battery Co in Ohio. Yes...it is the real Tar Top, not the Poly Tar. You can get the Poly Tar Top for $245 plus shipping. The Real Tar Top battery with the soft tar (they say will pass NCRS judging) was $290 plus shipping. It is the 2SMR53 750CCA Maintenance free battery with a 4 yr warranty. 10-1/4 x 6-3/4 x 9 to the top of the post. Expensive....yes...but it's what the judges are looking for. They date code them free.

                Congratulations on the First Flight! I was waiting for your judging to be done before asking, but maybe you would like to start a new post with pictures of the top of your new battery and some description of its appearance. I'm planning on buying one and would like to learn more.

                Thanks and congratulations again on the score !

                Bob

                  Thomas,

                  I have a '57, p/n 3695918 shown in the AIM. Do you have a p/n for your original from the 1958-60 AIM or parts book? Trying to determine whether your dwg would be correct for '57 also.

                  Thanks for any assistance.

                    The part number shown in the 1959 AIM is 6255817. There is a note 6:"Was 3695918". I also found a part number from a old Chevrolet Dealer parts book from the early 70's. 53-67 Corvette (exc. 396) 325053 (hook hd 5/16"-18x10 1/2"

                      60 AIM shows same part number.

                        Thanks, guys. So '56-'57 wasn't the same. Anyone have any further info on what 3695918 might look like?
