57 air box FI throttle rod

Was hoping for insight into the placement of the bell crank to throttle rod swivel. In looking at original cars, I see it mounted on the dash throttle rod and also on the bell crank. The 57 AIM shows it on the bell crank with the retainer clip. I'm helping with ex Bill Rhodes air box car. In a period picture of this car, the swivel was mounted on the bell crank. Any ideas as to why this was that way? Thanks,

Dan, Can't answer your question but have always wondered the same thing. Real deal 57 FI's cars I have seen have always had the accelerator rod swivel on the bellcrank. Just the opposite of the 58 to 65 FI cars.
Maybe it has something to do with interference on the distributor shield/cover? But I really don't know. John

Most of the pictures and prints in Kaysers book indicate that the swivel is at the bellcrank end.

I think it has to do with WOT sticking sometimes, so by 1958 they redesigned the linkage set up. MY best "GUESS"

Jim, got a treat last week, saw the scrapbooks that date back to 1957 and Bob Kingman, original owner, nice pictures of Sebring, Daytona etc, in the pits and racing. Owner will have the books at the San Diego National, hoping Vinnie can scan them and we'll do an article for the Restorer. Lots of racing programs, awards etc. See ya there!
