Jerry, by lip, do you mean the ridge over the trunk lock? I assume that your restoration shop is trying to recreate the original look. We need more information please.

      Jerry,
If you are referring to the ridge above the trunk lock, you will find that the size of it can vary from a small ridge to one that is very well defined.
When I did my 57 I took a dozen pictures of different cars and then formed the ridge. According to some people it is to large and to some it is not defined well enough (to small).
Do some homework before you have the body shop do the work on it.
My car is for driving so it will never be judged by anyone but me.
      Good luck.

                  Re: ci trunk lip

I've seen this issue posted several times and find it interesting. I know nothing about C1s so I'm curious - if you sand the ridge completely off wouldn't there be a hole there? Or was it there and people just glassed it over?

Pat, that area is solid & thick as it was molded that way, a lot of the trunk lids were sanded smooth on the first repaints and with little effert if you did not pay attention when you are sanding with a air sander the ridge disappears like it was never there, just a little ring of gell coat missing...........
