Juan Pablo Montoya ran into the jet dry truck during a caution and caused a huge fire. They're still working on the track to see if the asphalt was damaged. I've never seen anything like it. It's on Fox.

I stuck it out. It was actually nice not having to give up a Sunday afternoon to enjoy a NASACAR race! I was pulling for Dale Jr. but he waited until the last turn to try pull out and move ahead. Too little too late. He should have made his move earlier. I thought it interesting that NASCAR has now put restrictions on cooling system pressure to reduce drafting and slow the cars down. Interesting approach.Comment

I stayed up and watched it to the end. IMO it was a poor race. Too manny wrecks and tooooo much Danica !

Terrible, boring race, typical of NASCAR these days. And now they are going to FI and electronic engine management, they already all have the same car basically, just not like the '60s and '70s when Petty and others were driving what we were driving and it had personality and creativity. I lost a bet that the race wouldn't be restarted after the Montoya wreck. I figured the fire damaged the track beyond a quick repair and officials would be forced to call it a race - or it would rain!
Of course, the last ten laps were the usual craziness with the usual white/green lap finish.
I, too, was hoping that Junior would finally pull off a win, and I felt sorry for Patrick. She had bad luck all weekend.

While I have a lot of respect for Danica's abilities even though she's never won a major league race (her crew chief won the rain shortened race in Motegi), her style is not suited for NASCAR. She will not be able to win races by running near the back, staying away from everyone, and not racing people.
I agree that what happened in both races was not her fault, but right now she's just another "also ran". There are many other drivers more deserving of the media attention she gets.
However, it's nice to see a woman driver in NASCAR who is not afraid of being a woman.Comment

I have no use for Kyle Busch, but the driving ability he showed in last week's shootout race was incredible. I will never like him, but you have to respect his driving ability. -Dan-Comment
