    65 Differential Tag

Please give opinions on which of these differential tags you consider to be correct for a 1965 with posi. The JG says the red plastic is correct but I found the metal on my fairly original car. Thanks, Don H.

My 65 has the original red plastic tag pictured above and my 60 has the metal tag.

I have access to a November built 65 that's very original and from memory it's the metal tag on the early 65's. I will double check later today and let you know as this part may have changed during the 65 production.

I agree with Tim, I think most of the 65's I've built had the plastic tag, the wording changed on them over the years too. Some 65's also came with the much weaker R&P carried over from the 63-64 run.

My June of '65 Corvette has the red plastic tag. I believe the metal tags were on 1963-64 vehicles but could have been carried over to early '65 production.

My early February 65 coupe has the round metal tag. The differential is original to this low mileage car.

                  Re: 65 Differential Tag

It sounds like it was a mix. My car was built May 12, 1965 and as I said before, the car is fairly original. I could see someone removing the tag but found it unusual they would replace it (if the original was plastic) with a metal tag. Thanks for the replies, Don H.
