I have a 1961 Corvette (car built in March 1961) with a T10 4 speed transmission that I am trying to identify. The main housing (cast iron) has "T10 IB WG Div" cast into the right side. Below that is cast "G.26.62" which I believe is the casting date? On the left side is samped "WJ62-2", which I believe is the assembly date stamp? The rear housing numbers and dates make sense, T10 7B WG Div, 7-20-60. From what I've read the T10 1B was used for 1960 and early 1961 only, late 1961 and 1962 used the T10 1C. My question is, how does a T10-1B (Cast Iron) housing have 1962 casting and stamping dates on it, or am I missing something?

The main case was cast on July 26, 1962 and the transmission it was originally part of was assembled on October 6, 1962.
How could a T-10-1B have been assembled in 1962? Well, it could have been a SERVICE transmission and that SERVICE transmission contributed a main case which was used to replace the original one used for your car.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

The Borg Warner T-10 was not only used on GM cars, it was also widely used on Chrysler and Ford products. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1961 T10 Transmission Identification
A T10-knowledgeable poster on another forum indicated that the T10-1B main case was also used in later years in Studebakers and some AMC products - that's probably where the 1962-dated T10-1B case came from.- Top
