C2 Compressors Round or rectangular holes

I've seen pictures of many C2 A6 compressors with either round holes or rectangular holes in the pulley/clutch device. Which is correct or are both correct? I haven't been able to turn up anything conclusive in my archive search. I remember reading an article in the Restorer some time ago, but can't remember which issue it was in. As always, thanks. AL

The round holes are the early configuration. Don't know when the larger cutouts were introduced.

I assume you are talking about '67s. I can't offer an answer for that model year, but up to (at least) September of '64 (based on back head '302' casting date) the 8 round holes are the rule, rather than the 3 elongated rectangles. Others should be able to say if this continues into the '66 and '67 model years. Problem is, most clutches have been replaced over the last 40+ years.

Another related question is when did the external case change from front swage to crimp ? Sometime after 1965 MY for sure.

The March 67 compressor on my car that was replaced under warranty has the rectangular holes, so I wasn't sure. BTW I have a 3rd week Feb 67 car.
