    C2 Electrical questions

    Hello all,
My restored voltage regulator and horn relay arrived today. Thanks John Pirkle Jr. 1964 L-84.

I understand that I do not need to polarize the system because it has an alternator. Can someone confirm?

I also have some doubts about the connection of the horn relay. The plastic connector is straight forward, however I have 2 bundles of wires to connect. One has 2 red wires. The other has 2 reds and 1 black/white. The AIM labels one set as "red" and doesn't label the other set. Since both have red conductors it is a little ambiguous. The electrical schematic in the shop manual showns both bundles clearly but doesn't ID either of the 2 terminals on the relay. The relay itself has 1 post marker "Bat" but the other post has no marks.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks-Doug

    Doug -

There's no need to polarize with an alternator - that only applies with generators.

Both screws on the buss are electrically common - either screw is 12 volts, hot all the time; doesn't matter which screw you use for those connections. The reds are hot power feeds and the black/white is the sense wire for the battery gauge.

Thanks John. I don't know what I'd do without all the help you guys provide.
