Re: Wiring harness
Hi Lyndon,
I believe the wire lead for the CEC solenoid is only available as part of the engine harness
I believe the wires for the connections to the switches on the firewall (the reversing relay and the timing relay) are only available as part of the engine harness.
There is a jumper wire available separately that runs from a short lead in the engine harness to the temperature sender in the right side head.
The wire for the switch on the transmission is part of the engine harness too.
Perhaps you need to find a used 71 harness or maybe a new one. Any chance the leads are there, but have been hidden with new harness wrap at some time?
I just remembered I owe you those CEC pages! Sorry! Busy putting a new floor down in my basement garage.

CEC Components
Hi Lyndon,
I believe the CEC components were the same for 71 bb and sb cars.
The only variation I've seen is the configuration of the delay relay mounted to the rear of the reversing relay on the firewall bracket.
One configuration of the delay relay looks very much like the reversing relay, the other looks more like a very small metal toaster. (Nice technical description, huh?!?
I'll post a picture of the solenoid on the carb, and a picture of the reversing relay with both configurations of the delay relay I've seen. (I have one of each).

Re: Wiring harness
Thanks Tom for Posting that. Do you have any of the wire coming from the harness going to the solenoid on the carburetor . ?
I noticed that your car has the yellow label on it. When was your car built? It must be a real early car right?Last edited by Lyndon S.; December 29, 2011, 12:59 PM.- Top

Re: Wiring harness
Hi Lyndon,
Did you get the info I e-mailed you yesterday, (Wednesday)?
The last page was the engine compartment wiring with the CEC wiring included. It's not in color but the colors are called out... I used magic markers of appropriate colors.
If you didn't get it let me know and I'll gladly try again. For some reason I had trouble with the size of the attachments.
Happy New Year!

Re: Wiring harness
Lyndon,
I went through my pictures and I don't have one showing the solenoid connection. I'd take a photo of it for you, but I only have the C1 here at the house. The C3 and C6 are away at "camp storage" for the winter. I can go over there on day next week if you really need a shot.
My car is a Sept 70 build, SN 1632. Has a lot of 70 parts on it including the valve covers. Amazingly it was a very intact car when I got it.
I have not seen another 71 in person with the yellow label on it.

Re: Wiring harness
Do you have a lot of early dated parts on it due to the strike? I am curious as to when your engine was built and the casting date of the block. I noticed that it also has the 4 bolt main and the windage tray. After the strike they must have been filling orders with 4 bolt blocks to just get the cars out the door.- Top
