I have a NOS switch #3990843 it looks like it has two prongs or maybe 3. Could this part be where the other two wires connect?
    Lyndon,

I was able to zoom in on the picture posted and the two connectors, the brown wire one and the green wire one, both go to the rear relay. The other connector you have loose under the existing relay should go to the front, or delay, relay.

Jack Humphrey wrote a great article for the restorer on the 71 CEC system. Check out the Spring 2009 issue for all you'll probably ever need to know on the 71 CEC system.

Yes, I'm ashamed to admit that I don't know or have the block casting date written down. The heads are July 70 and the intake is June 70. The transmission (4sp) is Aug 70. The earliest dated part that I have notes on is the pass side door glass and that is March of 70. All other glass id either June or July. The differential gears are Aug of 70.

I suppose I was one of the lucky ones that got a 4 bolt block. I surprised to see that when I took the engine apart.

I made a pretty comprehensive list of the date codes of the parts on my 60 when I was going through it last year. I need to do the same with the 71 when I wake it up in the spring.

The solenoid wires are blue and tan (maybe black?)
