Starting to work on rebuilding my 68 box. Assume it will be black, what black would one recommend? Semi flat? Flat? Satin?

I'll give Erik's question a bump, is it paint or "tar-like" coating or both?

I have 2 photos that are below and hopefully will help. First is a July built 1970 and second is a July built 1971. I believe both to be untouched originals.

Hi Dave,I was noting the two pic.s and it almost looks like the Temp sender wire protective coating on the 71 has black out on it. I wonder if the black on the 71 was a result of the blackout operation or touch- up at the factory?

            Ed,
I'm well thanks. Hope all is well w/ you.
It is definately a black material but is thicker than normal black out and obviously applied after the car was at least partly assembled. As you know it is a very original car but who knows how it got there.

Dave, Yes your C3 cars don't get much more original. as they are great learning tools for judges.

                Erik,

My '68 steering box is natural, no paint.
